"Narcotic Trafficking Crackdown: Telangana Police Arrest Interstate Drug Peddler, Seize 31 kg Ganja"
Telangana Police, in a recent crackdown on drug trafficking, arrested an interstate drug peddler and seized over 31 kg of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 8.5 lakh, officials said on Sunday. The arrested individual, Boinipally Suresh (35), a resident of Paidurupadu in Vijayawada Rural, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, was previously implicated in a similar case under the NDPS Act at Bhadrachalam Police Station.
According to police reports, Suresh, a cab driver by profession, recently reconnected with an old acquaintance from Khammam who proposed transporting ganja to swiftly earn money. Acting on this advice, Suresh received a car loaded with 31.2 kg of ganja intended for delivery to a contact in Nizamabad. To avoid detection, he cleverly concealed the ganja packets in a specially crafted gas tank.
On the morning of June 30, 2024, following a tip-off, the SOT LB Nagar team, in collaboration with Nagole police, intercepted the car within Nagole police station limits. This operation led to Suresh's apprehension and the seizure of 31.2 kg of ganja, the vehicle, and a mobile phone.
Efforts are being made to apprehend the absconding accused. The arrested accused is being produced before the court for judicial remand.
This recent seizure and arrest are a part of the Telangana Police's stringent initiatives to curb drug trafficking and create a safer and more secure society for the public.
