Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) just made a huge bust at the Bhopal Railway Station. A female Ugandan national was arrested after four white plastic packets containing crystalline methamphetamine and two containing cocaine were found in her possession. The narcotics weighed in at a total of 416.3 grams and are valued at more than Rs 2.2 crore in the international market. She was reportedly on her way from Delhi to Mumbai to deliver the drugs.
This isn't the first operation where DRI has successfully made a significant bust. Just last month, they busted a clandestine Mephedrone manufacturing unit near Bhopal and arrested seven individuals linked to an international drug cartel. They also managed to seize 62 kg of contraband valued at Rs 62 crore in the international illicit market. Just two days ago, DRI Indore intercepted two passengers at the Bhopal Railway Station who were found carrying 25 kg of Thailand-origin hydroponic weed. The narcotics were valued at Rs 25 crore. These successful operations are part of a larger crackdown across India.
The female Ugandan national has been placed under arrest, and further investigation is underway to identify the network behind this trafficking attempt. The success of these operations highlights the excellence of the DRI in combating the illegal narcotics trade and safeguarding the people of India by eliminating these harmful substances from the country. The busts also highlight the growing problem of narcotics trafficking in India. The suspected drug trafficker was reportedly traveling via train, a method used by many traffickers due to its anonymity.
