Four women inflict savage beating over land dispute in Tamil Nadu

In yet another shocking incident of violence against women, four women in Tamil Nadu's Periyar district tied up and stripped another woman before beating her brutally. The victim was accused of encroaching upon their land. The incident took place in the Chinnampatti area and was caught on camera by one of the accused, putting the police under pressure to arrest the perpetrators.

The victim, Mallika, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the government hospital in Kodumudi. According to the Doctor, Mallika suffered multiple contusions and injuries on her legs, back, and face. The doctor added that such injuries were usually seen in accidents, and Mallika would have difficulty walking for some time.

Police have so far been able to arrest one of the accused, Sulochana, while the search for the other three continues. The victim and the accused lived in the same area, with the victim's family having recently moved there.

Police sub-inspector, Rajendran, said that the accused had lost their cool after Mallika's family allegedly erected a wall on land owned by the accused. The matter was allegedly taken to the local administration and council multiple times, without resolution.
