Amirhossein Azizi, an architecture student, was hoping for an iPhone for his 19th birthday, but the cost of getting the latest model was far from affordable. In Iran’s capital, the iPhone 16 Pro Max was priced at a staggering 1.6 billion rials ($1,880), with additional import fees and registration charges adding another 450 million rials ($530). These costs make purchasing foreign luxury items a significant financial burden for most Iranians.

Economic Struggles and Public Demand for Goods

The Iranian government's move to relax import restrictions is a response to growing public frustration over economic hardships and a lack of access to globally recognized products. Many Iranians have long criticized the country’s domestic products, which are often seen as subpar.
