Telangana'sIT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu stated on Friday that the state’sdelegation is set to attend the upcoming Davos World Economic Forum (WEF) witha strategic goal of securing greater investments than in the previous year.
The2025 edition of the forum will take place in the Swiss city from January 20 toJanuary 25. SridharBabu remarked, "We are planning our participation in a way that willattract more investments compared to last year. While I can't share specificdetails or figures at this moment, the investments will certainly exceed whatwe achieved last time."
In2024, the Telangana government signed several MoUs with various companies,securing investments totaling Rs 40,000 crore. Before heading to Davos, SridharBabu, alongside Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, will visit Singapore toexplore the city-state’s tourism promotion practices. "We will also visitSingapore’s skills university, which is recognized as one of the best in termsof skill development," he added.
Additionally,Sridhar Babu inaugurated the Global Innovation Hub (GIH) at Raidurgam,established by Ariqt, a Netherlands-based developer-first company. The newfacility will employ over 300 engineers in Phase 1 and is set to provideAI-based solutions across industries like fintech, agriculture, sports,cybersecurity, travel, and supply chain.
"Ariqt’sdecision to establish an office here for emerging technologies is a testamentto Hyderabad’s vibrant and thriving ecosystem," Sridhar Babu said.
Reflectingon Telangana’s remarkable growth, he highlighted that the state’s GDP and percapita income now exceed the national average. Telangana’s annual IT exportshave reached $30 billion, and the state is home to over 6,000 startups andaround 1,500 small and medium-sized software enterprises. Additionally,numerous global organizations are setting up Global Capability Centres (GCCs)in the state, further enriching its technological ecosystem and creating amplejob opportunities for local youth.
