Amazon Cracks Down on Counterfeiters: Grilles Fake Raided, Thousands Removed

Amazon has taken a proactive role in combatting counterfeiting with its Counterfeit Crimes Unit (CCU) working with brands and law enforcement. This year alone, the CCU provided intelligence that led to the removal of over 10,000 counterfeit automotive grilles from the global supply chain after contributing to dozens of raids on counterfeit operations worldwide.

The grilles were found on platforms including Amazon.com after the company took direct action against the bad actors, either through civil lawsuits or through criminal referrals to law enforcement agencies globally.

Speaking on the matter, Director of Amazon's Counterfeit Crimes Unit, Kebharu Smith, stated that, "We know customers rely on Amazon to be the most trusted shopping destination for authentic products, and we are committed to doing everything we can to continually innovate and improve on that experience."

Amazon has taken action to protect consumers, collaborating with law enforcement for positive change.

This news comes as Amazon has been actively working to improve counterfeit protection, including the launch of its Project Zero program. With these efforts, Amazon hopes to lead the industry in combating counterfeit sales.

Overall, the collaboration between Amazon's CCU and several brands and law enforcement resulted in meaningful action against counterfeiting with concrete results: tens of thousands of counterfeit products removed from the supply chain.
