Congress Park will host a vigil organized by the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office in collaboration with local recovery and addiction agencies to raise awareness of the ongoing narcotic epidemic. The Saratoga Springs community is invited to attend the free event, which includes Narcan training, and will take place at the Spirit of Life statue at 7 pm.
Recently, Saratoga County has seen an increase in overdose deaths, fostering fears among community leaders that the opioid crisis is getting worse. Despite their best efforts to distribute naloxone, also known as Narcan, a lifesaving opioid overdose reversal medication, there continues to be a rise in overdose deaths in the area.
Healing Springs Recovery Center will participate in the event, helping to spread awareness and offering hope to those affected by addiction through the park's ceremony. Congress Park will serve as a safe space for the community to come together to remember those they've lost and to educate community members on the ongoing struggles surrounding narcotics.
