In a significant move to enhance disaster preparedness, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has announced the formation of disaster management teams at the village level. The initiative aims to ensure a swift and efficient response to emergencies such as natural disasters and accidents.
Commending Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his insightful advice on the matter, Pawan Kalyan emphasized that establishing these teams will play a crucial role in mitigating the impact of disasters by providing immediate assistance and support to affected communities. He stated that the teams will be equipped with specialized training in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
"The safety and well-being of our citizens are of utmost priority. With the support of NDRF and NDMA, these village-level disaster management teams will receive the necessary training to handle emergencies efficiently," said the Deputy CM. He added that trained personnel at the grassroots level can significantly reduce casualties and property damage during calamities.
The formation of these teams aligns with the government's commitment to strengthening disaster resilience and preparedness in the state. The teams will be trained in first aid, evacuation procedures, search and rescue operations, and coordination with local authorities.
Experts have welcomed the initiative, stating that it is a proactive step toward disaster risk reduction. They believe that decentralized disaster management efforts can bridge the gap between disaster occurrence and response time, ensuring timely intervention.
The Andhra Pradesh government plans to roll out this initiative in a phased manner, starting with vulnerable regions prone to cyclones, floods, and other natural calamities. Awareness programs will also be conducted to educate villagers on disaster preparedness and response protocols.
This initiative marks a significant step towards building a resilient and disaster-ready Andhra Pradesh, ensuring that communities are better equipped to handle emergencies in the future.
