Drug addiction can often feel like an uphill battle with no end in sight, but one Cincinnati facility is working to change that. The Cincinnati Challenge Ranch offers a faith-based long-term residential recovery program for men struggling with substance abuse and other life-controlling problems. By providing a supportive community and mentoring, the ranch gives its participants a new lease on life.

Shelton Rozelle, a graduate of the program, shared his emotional and transformative journey with local news. Rozelle grew up in Alabama without parents and turned to drug and alcohol abuse to cope. His addiction ultimately led to a severe car accident and an arrest, which he credits with saving his life.

After his experience in jail, Rozelle cried out to God for help and found the Cincinnati Challenge Ranch. Here, Rozelle found a new sense of family and purpose that enabled him to get clean. He highlighted the significance of the ranch's mentoring program, which changed his heart and motivated him to improve his life.

The Cincinnati Challenge Ranch accepts men from across the country and is funded by donations and program fees. Executive Director Jaryd Motsinger explained the ranch's mission is to provide a nurturing environment for men who are deep in addiction and urgently need help.

Program participants Robert Murray and Mikel Thompson shared their experiences with the program, noting that the ranch provided them with hope and support to overcome their addictions. Murray reflected on his time holding up a sign at the Home Depot, begging for work just to have money for drugs. Thompson, a staff member at the ranch, shared his own struggles with depression, anxiety, and PTSD and how the ranch provided him with a newfound sense of community and purpose.
