Ayodhya Ram Temple: Inside the Grand Plan for the Hindu Holy Site

With the construction of the Ram Mandir well underway, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has provided a rare glimpse into its ambitious plans for the holy site.

Sitting at the centre of the contentious dispute for over a century, Ayodhya's Ram Mandir is now set to be a sprawling complex, stretching far beyond the temple's sanctum sanctorum.

The Trust, formed by the Narendra Modi government in 2019 to oversee the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, has now plans to build an International Ram Katha Museum, an archival repository, and a digital museum.

Estimated to cost about Rs 200 crore, it will house 20 galleries focusing on different aspects of the life of Lord Rama, according to Trust Secretary, Champat Rai.

Speaking to the Press Trust of India (PTI), Rai said that the construction of the museum will start after the completion of the temple in March.

"This will be a modern museum with state-of-the-art facilities and will be an international destination for those interested in learning about Lord Ram," he said.

Aside from the planned digital museum, the Trust also unveiled plans for an archival repository.

Rai said that the repository will include "original manuscripts and replicas of artefacts related to the life of Lord Ram."

The plans also include a digital museum, which will be a modern interpretation of a museum, using digital means to present the historical and cultural evidence of Lord Rama's time on Earth.

The Trust Secretary said that the three projects would transform Ayodhya into a major global religious and cultural centre.

"The projects will help in spreading the glory of Lord Ram and strengthen the spiritual identity of Ayodhya," he said.

As the temple nears completion, the Trust is already garnering significant attention with these newly announced plans. The future of the site, however, remains a subject of keen interest locally and internationally.

Ultimately, Rai's remarks offer a rare insight into the ambitious plans that the Trust has for the holy site.
