In a significant step towards fostering a safer and more responsible community, the Cyberabad Police, along with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and Sankalp, a non-profit organisation, have embarked on a transformative journey. On November 22, 2025, they launched the Suraksha Kavach Safety Clubs in over 30 schools under the Serilingampally Schools Association, marking a new era in student-led safety initiatives.
The initiative aims to create a structured platform where students take the lead, guided by teachers, to address various aspects of safety. These clubs will empower students to engage in activities, workshops, and competitions centred around physical safety, cyber awareness, mental health, road safety, civic sense, and substance abuse prevention. The Suraksha Kavach School Safety Handbook, developed by SCSC, will serve as a comprehensive guide for these endeavours.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Gajarao Bhupal emphasised the collective responsibility for school safety, stating, "We must build a culture of safety, awareness, and mutual accountability within our educational institutions." His message resonated with the audience, highlighting the need for collaboration between schools, families, and the community at large. This initiative challenges the traditional approach to safety, where the onus often falls solely on law enforcement.
With the launch of these safety clubs, Cyberabad aims to create a model cluster of safe schools in Serilingampally, with plans to expand across the region. The ultimate goal is to empower students to become active agents of change, transforming from bystanders to upstanders in various safety-related scenarios. This initiative promises to revolutionise school safety, fostering a generation of responsible citizens who actively contribute to a secure and aware community.
