The Government of Telangana has implemented a comprehensive set of policies to foster the growth of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and related sectors, positioning the state as a key player in the global tech landscape.
The Telangana ICT Policy Framework 2016 provides a foundation for incentivizing the growth of IT and ITeS companies, aiming to transform the state into an IT hub. Similarly, the Electronics (ESDM) Policy focuses on making Telangana a leader in electronics manufacturing, while the Gaming & Animation (IMAGE) Policy encourages the growth of animation, gaming, and multimedia industries.
The Rural Technology Centres Policy aims to extend IT opportunities to rural areas, promoting the development of technology infrastructure in non-urban regions. To boost innovation, the Telangana Innovation Policy provides incentives for startups and incubators, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for new businesses.
Telangana has also introduced futuristic policies to stay ahead in emerging sectors. The SpaceTech Framework (2022) highlights the state’s ambition to be a global leader in space technology, while the AI Framework envisions Telangana as a hub for artificial intelligence innovation. The Agricultural Data Management Framework (2023) is aimed at improving agricultural data management for sectoral growth.
Additionally, Telangana’s focus on Data Centres, Cyber Security, and IoT strengthens its position as a leader in tech-driven governance, with policies encouraging a secure and innovative digital environment. Noteworthy also is the state’s emphasis on sustainability with its e-Waste Management Policy (2017) and EV & ESS Policy (2020-2030), promoting eco-friendly practices in tech development.
