Ever since Hanumantappa murdered his third wife Renukamma in 2002, the Karnataka Police has been on the lookout for him. He was finally caught after 22 years of being on the run.

According to reports, the 72-year-old man was arrested in Koppal district after someone alerted the police of his whereabouts.

After killing Renukamma, Hanumantappa fled with his five children. Little did his children know that their father had allegedly killed their mother and remarried another woman.

"We are yet to ascertain the exact year he married again. He fled with his five children and they grew up without any knowledge of the murder he had committed," a police official said.

The official further added, "His eldest daughter, who is married and lives in Koppal, informed her brother about their father being arrested for killing their mother."

The police are currently investigating the case and will produce him before the court.
