Schoolnet India Partners to Empower 10 Million Students Through Transformative Initiatives

Schoolnet Innovation Programs: Transforming Education with a Focus on Sustainability, Technology, and Global Collaboration

Schoolnet India has joined hands with the Global Learning Council (GLC), based at the Villars Institute (VI) in Switzerland, to reshape education for Indian students and educators through transformative programs. These initiatives aim to integrate technology-driven problem-solving, climate leadership, and enhanced teacher training to empower 50,000 students and educators in the first year, with a goal to reach 10 million students within five years.

The EcoInnovators Ideathon Grand Finale, held on January 24, 2025, at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, was a major highlight of this collaboration. This nationwide competition encouraged students to tackle environmental challenges like pollution and waste management using advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics. More than 800 schools participated, with 100 teams receiving expert mentorship through masterclasses before competing in the final event.

The top honor went to Team Vanguard, represented by Shreyas Aggasare and Nakshatra from Delhi Public School Electronic City, Bengaluru. Their innovative project earned them an invitation to present at the prestigious Villars Symposium in Switzerland in June 2025. A distinguished jury, including representatives from IIT Madras, TERI, and Grok Learning, selected the winners.

The event also featured an interactive quiz powered by Schoolnet’s AI-enabled Geneo app, engaging over 250 students from Delhi/NCR schools. Finalists and participants received cash prizes totaling ₹1.5 lakh.

Beyond the Ideathon, the partnership has collaborated with the International Baccalaureate (IB) to enhance teacher training in affordable private schools. This includes orientation seminars, professional development, and IB program integration to nurture critical thinking and lifelong learning among educators.

Additionally, a Climate Leadership course has been introduced for students in Grades 6–8. Co-developed by GLC/VI and Schoolnet, this hands-on program focuses on environmental stewardship, systems leadership, and planetary boundary principles to inspire the next generation of climate leaders.

Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, commended the initiatives and their use of emerging technologies to address global challenges. Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO of Dubai Cares, expressed interest in extending these programs to the MENA region, while Dr. Subra Suresh, President of GLC, emphasized the importance of intergenerational collaboration for sustainability-focused leadership.

RCM Reddy, MD & CEO of Schoolnet India, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to democratizing education through global partnerships and cutting-edge technologies, aligning with India’s National Education Policy.
